ASAAPS Clearinghouses
ASAAPS currently offers three free and two members-only databases
or clearinghouses.
FREE Clearinghouses
Media Coverage
of Elder & Vulnerable
Adult Abuse (click here)
Since January 2003, ASAAPS has been collecting and annotating
media reports on elder and vulnerable adult abuse issues. As
of March 2004, the database census had topped 1900 entries.
State Laws Database (click here)
Currently, we have the citations and, where possible, direct
links to the language of state laws establishing adult protective
services (APS) and long-term care ombudsman programs (LTCOP).
Lawyers (click here)
ASAAPS does not endorse or recommend individual attorneys,
but we do maintain a directory of attorneys who have paid to
advertise on the ASAAPS website. Available information on the
attorneys includes states of practice, types of cases handled,
areas of expertise, fee arrangements, and contact information.
Members-only Clearinghouses
Public Education Clearinghouse (click
here)
This Clearinghouse is designed to give members access to public
education materials (including materials suitable for training
professionals) that can be downloaded and printed for distribution
or adaptation. The database also includes information on materials
that can be ordered.
Completed Prosecutions (click
here)
At ASAAPS' launch, our list of completed prosecutions -- dating
back to January 2003 -- numbered more than 125. Each listing
gives the type of crime, the sentence, where the case took
place, a short description, and what media outlet covered the
sentencing, settlement, or enforcement action.
