A note about the local stories database
Please note that the media database is compiled by humans
and computers based on what is available on the Internet
on the days searched. Therefore, it does not represent
all of the relevant articles that may have appeared in
a given locale during a particular time frame. In many
cases, articles are reprinted in multiple newspapers;
we try to eliminate such duplications. However, we do
include more than one article on a particular case when
news develops over time or when two or more articles
provide details the others don't.
Note that increasingly, media websites require users
to register (at no cost) before they will permit a user
to see the requested articles. We do not include articles
from media outlets that require a paid subscription to
access their website; however, some media outlets require
a payment to access an archived article older than a
set number of days.
In addition, some media URLs change within hours, and
may no longer be available. In most such cases,
the article will still be available, but may have to
be searched for (and possibly paid for). To search for
an article, type in the URL up to (and including) the ".com," look
on the resulting webpage for either "archives" or "search," and
type in the headline and/or keywords. All newspaper
publishers' offices and many local libraries also maintain
hard copies and/or other media versions of past editions
of the newspaper, from which copies of a given article
may also be obtained.
