Title: Lawmakers lean on police to investigate elder abuse
  • Services
Comments: A law was passed this year requiring some 340 law enforcement agencies to forge agreements for joint investigations with DCF district offices by March 2004. Statewide, DCF caseworkers verified roughtly 5% of the 41,547 abuse and neglect allegations in 2001-02. The rate of verified abuse case doubled or even tripled in counties where state attorneys or law enforcement agencies helped pursue cases.
