In 2003, the long-term care ombudsman office received 977 complaints about Iowa nursing home care, up 19% from 2002. Complaints to the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals went up 15% from 2002, to 1,218 complaints. 36% of those complaints were related to allegations of resident abuse. |
