Telemarketing scams bilk Mississippi's elderly |
|
| Comments: |
"Elderly Mississippians have lost tens of thousands of dollars to fraudulent telemarketers in Canada, and the state attorney general and the FBI are warning about several scams targeting older residents." A new variation "involves fake FBI and Canadian authorities asking the targeted victim to accept $250,000 in 'reward' money for providing information on a sweepstakes scam originating in Canada. The crooks ask for a $2,500 free before turning over the reward money." |
