Title: More safeguards needed for elderly
  • Vulnerable Adult Abuse
  • Services
Comments: Editorial discusses new Ohio Elder Abuse Task Force recommendations. "The task force's findings show a well-intentioned but fragmented state system for dealing with reports of abuse and subsequent investigations. It recommended a number of actions to set the state's Adult Protective Services agency to rights. Chief among them: more consistent training, more reliable funding and a guarantee that each Ohio county will have at least one APS staff member. One of the report's farthest-reaching recommendations is expansion of the list of mandatory reporters of abuse to include bankers, pharmacists, firefighters, emergency medical technicians and housing inspectors."
